62 One Ton 4x4

Well I thought I'd start a build thread to keep track of progress on my truck. And I think the plan for this build will be good info for others wanting to do the same thing. The plan is to basically do a body swap of my 62 cab and front clip onto a newer chassis. Ill be keeping it a small block. Possibly a 383 stroker if funds allow. Ill be using an auto trans a built th350 or th400. Axles are a D70 HD out of an 86 Dodge D600. And the front axle is a D60 Dually out of an 80 something k30. Anyways I know everyone like pictures so heres what Ive got so far and there will be alot of progress this weekend.
This is the night I got it home.

This is as of tonight. Its up on a dolley now and the driver side is pretty well stripped and ready for some rubbing. "New" fender old one has a patch in it that was rivited in and filled over.

Ill have a new driver door this weekend and I'll get the passenger side all ready for work. "New" hood will be on this weekend also. Let me know what you guys think.
Thanks.
Mike.

Nah I havent kept all the good parts I've got so sell some to fund the build. I'm not sure how heavy the bare cab is i used jacks to get it up on the dolley. But I know its heavy I moved it around a little once it was up there. Its nice having it up where everything but the roof is easily accesible.

This sounds like a cool project. Is this going to have a Fleetside bed on it?

Re: 62 One Ton 4x4

Well I did a little more sanding last night and I may be swapping hoods. The body line on the driver side is built of 50% bondo. But we'll see if I can get it straightened out. And I am for sure swapping drivers doors, some one tried to straighten out the curve at the top front where it meets the a pillar... It's all screwy.

Re: 62 One Ton 4x4

Well I got a decent amount done this weekend. Got the new door on and the hood. Forgot to get pics of new hood. I got the whole driver side door jam and rear area of the cab sanded and got a little primer on it to keep from rusting. And I also got the long bed fleet side bed sides. I'll get pics of that this week.

I'll get some pics of the whole truck this week end when I roll it out of the garage. It's like building a monster truck in a basement right now. Thanks for the replys. Mike.
