Re: WTB: 2-1\2 Drop Spindles 1969 C|10
I'm hoping its a 69. But it has been changed to a 5 lug. So its probably newer than that. I'm assuming the 69s were 6 lug. Is there anyway or something I can look at that can gine me an idea. I know I had a time finding the right ball joints. I think they were for a 73. Thanks man, that's twice you've saved me from making a mistake.

BUT,... there are 2 different spindles. Light Duty (1" rotors) and HD (1-1/4" rotors) spindles. You will need to measure your rotor width to determine this.

Re: WTB: 2-1\2 Drop Spindles 1969 C|10
I bought a set of rotors and calipers off here. I'll measure the ones one my truck and the ones I bought. Man I'm really gonna have to do more research before I buy something for my truck. I'm at work now. Probably be around 6PM before I can get the measurements. Thanks again.

You gotta tell me what year suspension you have. It's either 71-72 or 73-87. Are you rebuilding the front suspension at the same time? Got any pics? Steel a-arm bushings or rubber bushings? The outer tie rods will be different also. Seems like we have gone through this issue before. I thought you had it figured out?

Re: WTB: 2-1\2 Drop Spindles 1969 C|10
I'll have to take some pics. And start writing this stuff down. I had lower a arms put on it so I don't know what kind of bushings it had. I know they didn't replace them. I do remember the guy saying that. I can do some checking I know I have the receipts somewhere.

Got any pics of the a-arm bushings?
Also your outer tie rod looks bent. Can you get a picture of the inner tie rod? My guess is 73-87. The only way to know for sure is to verify the year of the upper ball joint and outer tie rod. It will be 71-72 or 73-87.

Re: WTB: 2-1\2 Drop Spindles 1969 C|10
the bent tie rod I took off. its for a 69 model. The 72 tie ros will fit in the spindle but are to big to thread into the collar. what do you think, did they just change the rotors to a 5 lug. I thought 69 models were 6 lug

Jeez... this has been a lot of work I've been following because I want drop spindles for my 2wd '72 Blazer.

Re: WTB: 2-1\2 Drop Spindles 1969 C|10
63-70 were 6-lug drum brake only.
I don't understand a 69 outer tie rod and a 71 outer tie rod BOTH fitting the spindle. These are two different tie rods. I think you have 71-72 stock disc brake spindles with the wrong steering parts. You need either: 1) 63-70 conversion spindles to work with your stock steering 2) 71-72 steering components. (crosslink and tie rods) If you are switching to drop spindles,... the choice is yours. But everything has to match the year spindle you choose.

Re: WTB: 2-1\2 Drop Spindles 1969 C|10
I'll try to post pics of the inner tie rods this morn before I leave for work. Either one of the tie rods would fit the spindle. Just the threads on the collar was bigger than the other. The 71-72 was biger and the nut on the tie rod was biger. But they both fit the spindle and would have tightened up good. I feel like the 71-72 fit snugger. That's gonna cause me to change ever thing in the front. But I think it will be better in the long run. I don't suppose that will cause a fitment problem with my brake rotors if there for a 69 and I change to a 72 spindle.

Re: WTB: 2-1\2 Drop Spindles 1969 C|10
There were NEVER any brake rotors in '69.
(only drum brakes) Someone has swapped parts. (I assume 71-72) I'm still confused on the 69 outer tie rods fitting those spindles. The AFTERMARKET now makes "conversion" disc brake spindles for the 63-70 drum brake trucks,... but they take the 71-87 HD parts. Maybe someone else has some ideas.

Re: WTB: 2-1\2 Drop Spindles 1969 C|10
Its possible there home made. I ran into all types of unusual things since I've started taking it apart. here are some pics I took this morning. Should I just replace the entire steering parts, tie rods, collar's, whatever that straight bar is called in the middle that connects the tie rods together, then buy some 71-72 drop spindles??
A question for you. The 73 tierod was to big to go in the spindle. would the 72 not fit in the spindle? is it biger in diameter than the 69.? maybe thats the thing if the 69 is smaller it would still go down in the spindle.. That is if the 72 is bigger around.. I bought the tierods at autozone. the 69 part # ES350L the 72 part #ES415R here"s the pics I took this morning. last pic is the driver side

Re: WTB: 2-1\2 Drop Spindles 1969 C|10
the only difference i found in the 69 and 72 is the shaft itself that screws into the collar is bigger around than the other is and won't thread into the collar

Re: WTB: 2-1\2 Drop Spindles 1969 C|10
The 63-70 OUTER tie rods are LH thread.
71-72 and 73-87 OUTER tie rods are RH thread. I have no idea what bent the outer tie rod. All the inner tie rod stuff looks good. The center link is install correctly. 63-70 tie rods are 5/8" diameter. 71-72 and 73-87 tie rods are 11/16" diameter. I think your steering stuff is original 69 parts and your spindles are 71-72.

Re: WTB: 2-1\2 Drop Spindles 1969 C|10
I think its a mess myself. I really appreciate your time and knowledge. I would guess I need to find a 71-72 steering stuff or I've seen 70 model drop spindles on ebay. I assume they work with 5 lug disc brakes. Guess I need to check on that. I also seen a 72 steering set up. Tierods and the pitman arm and that center bar on ebay to. Might try on here, see if anybody has a set up they'll part with. Thanks again for all your help.

Re: WTB: 2-1\2 Drop Spindles 1969 C|10
You can buy brand new 63-70 drop spindles.
ECE, McGaughy's, CPP, Perfromance Online, Belltech, all sell them. Finding the spindle isn't the problem. I would stay away from Ebay and buy from a reputable source. I wish you were closer, so I could look at your suspension stuff in person.
