Newbie...just got a smoking deal?
Hello, I just bought 69' Step ( truck I wanted since I was 16) body is very straight. 355 with flat top pistons, edelbrock 650, performance rpm intake, world heads, voodoo cam, roller rockers and double roller chain. I don't know a ton about performance parts but it sounds very throaty and moves out pretty quick. Wasn't running when I went to look at it and paid 2500 for it, got it home and new fuel pump brought it to life. Needs tires, pinion seal, brake master cylinder. Is this a steal like I think it is?

Re: Newbie...just got a smoking deal?
Looks like a great start. I also strongly recomend changing the air cleaner. They burn really well if you have a carb backfire.

Re: Newbie...just got a smoking deal?
I got a new air cleaner for it yesterday and started rewiring it. Where is a good place to find a grill? Also trying to figure out what size wheels and tires I want. I like the look of back tires being a little bigger than front. Also need to find front and back blinkers PO shaved the sides.

Re: Newbie...just got a smoking deal?
Just a guess from a Chevy guy, but that sure looks to me like a GMC lacking grill & hood & fender trim pieces.
SPID or tailgate give a brand-clue ? and YES, it's a pretty good deal, or maybe a very good deal, IMHO. |

Re: Newbie...just got a smoking deal?
Nice looking truck!! A couple easy additions and it will be very nice.
What you are seeing is the indentations on the Chevy fenders for the Chevy grille. Definitely 69-72 Chevy fenders.

Re: Newbie...just got a smoking deal?
68shortstep you could be right. I don't have lots of experience with these trucks I just know I love em. Title says 69 chevy and the sticker in the glove box says model CS10704 I don't know what that means. I do know the PO can't run wires worth beans. I will be on that for the next few days. They used square trailer lights for the tail lights I hate the grill that's on it, need to find another one. Seats look brand new. Wish I knew how much HP or Torq it had. It runs great and is pretty quick but when I was in high school you didn't talk about how fast you were unless you ran 13.00 or under and I'm sure she won't do that. Thanks for all the welcomes this site is great. I will keep posting on my progress.future plans are for disc brakes, new paint, new floor for bed. Any thoughts on soud proffing the cab? Its loud as hell when your on the gas.
