code reader
What is out there for OBDI readers?
Looking for use on a laptop or a handheld with some kind of display/readout. I have seen cables and software on the net but its a little pricey. Any ideas? |

Re: code reader
OBDI is a liiiiiittle outdated so it may be hard to find cheap easy to use "code reader" for it. They make some pretty cool OBDII ones, for your iphoney and all that, but I haven't seen an OBDI. The only OBDI I have used or seen is my shop's MODIS/SOLUS from Snap-On, with an OBDI adapter for that specific vehicle. I am waiting to get my hands on an OBDII code/data reader from Snap-On, not too sure if it is OBDI compatible with the right adapter though.

Re: code reader
Do you know about jumping the OBDI plug and counting the flashes of the check engine light? It only cost you a paper clip

Re: code reader
thanks for the replies, the bulb for the dtc light is gone because of the emissions removal so I have no way to read codes other than pulling the dash. I was hoping for a laptop program to read values and what not.
btw, with this 89 being my first tbi truck, I am very surprised how much the coolant sensor impacts engine performance. I replaced that yesterday and wow! |
