Aftermarket trailing arms !!!!

Hey guy's just wondering about everybody's opion on aftermart trailing arms or stay with a good set of factory trailing arms. i just want and R&R SET no changing center section or that have a drop bulit in. Mine are not looking good and i did'nt want to put a set of bushings in my old ones. should have done this before restored the truck along with the disc brake change but that would have been to easy. any comments appreciated.

Re: Aftermarket trailing arms !!!!

Early Classic Enterprises makes some nice ones, Haven't used them myself but everything they make is good. Porterbuilt also makes some tubular ones.

Re: Aftermarket trailing arms !!!!

^ I like the boxed idea. Not too keen on that end, though. But that's me. Nice looking trailing arm for sure.

I'm not sure what I'd do if I was in your place. Nothing wrong with OEM in good condition on anything but radical drop trucks. You will spend less money, but you do have to deal with doing new bushings. I always liked trick parts for eye candy and just cool factor...as well as a possible improvement. But,I'm on a mild custom mostly factory kick these days,it seems, now that so many are building trucks that are so far removed from original design. These have always been great trucks from the get-go and I'm just into keeping that vibe. Not pure stock, but nothing a guy couldn't have done 20-30-40 years ago, either.

Re: Aftermarket trailing arms !!!!

I used heim joints at the customers request as they are $16 and end links are about $40. I should be starting another set this week with end links and a few other different things.

Re: Aftermarket trailing arms !!!!

we use those heims on our stock car, but they are in a smaller tube and not supporting a big beam like that, if it was screwed all the way in maybe, but less tread the better on a trailing arm like that. porterbulit has good looking ones but i don't want drop arms i just want stock but tubuler and there ends are very heavy duty looking. Thanks Guys for all your input

I too have the ones from Early Classics and love them. If your all stock a good set of used ones with new bushing will be cheaper and work very well. I went with the ECE ones because of the BB , locker and my heavy right foot

Re: Aftermarket trailing arms !!!!

Don't overlook the used NASCAR parts sellers. The truck arms used under the cars you see on TV are essentially made from channel fully welded back-to-back to conform to our trucks' specifications. The resellers won't sell the ones that have been in wrecks (except as souviniers) but have a huge stock because the teams keep trying little upgrades and consider parts no longer race-worthy while they are still plenty strong for DD use. Roush has a big outlet in Mooresville, NC somewhere.

Re: Aftermarket trailing arms !!!!

I have the early classics and like them been on for about 4 years. That small heim is scarry looking. Dont want to offend cause it looks like very nice work but I wouldnt sacrifice safety for a cheap customer.
