Considering selling the 87'! Give me a good reason not to!
Had this truck since 07. Was my first major project vehicle. Put a good amount of work into this one body-wise. Mechanically it's been very stout. I've always wanted an 80's monte carlo ss or cutlass. Thing is I always needed a truck for my motocross and other tasks. I was considering selling the 87'... downgrading to a small size pickup with 4x4 so I can use in the winter and possibly save on some fuel! And also eventually getting that 80's monte or cutlass. What do ya'll think?

Re: Considering selling the 87'! Give me a good reason not to!
It's very simple........... you drive it from East Haven, CT to Hudson, WI...... sign the title over to me......... no money needs to change hands......... you fly back to East Haven and start looking for a Monte Carlo or Cutlass........ that way you don't have to worry about what you have to do to the 87. I'll be willing to do that for you out of the kindness of my heart. I promise to take good care of it and if you ever get to Hudson again, I'll let you drive it.

Re: Considering selling the 87'! Give me a good reason not to!
1. Save up and get a small 4x4 4cl. They are disposable. Your C10 is not.
2. Looks like you did a good job building this one, why not keep it and find a resonable priced monte to build? 3. Your C10 will not likely depreciate. A nice truck like that is as good as money in the bank if you need to sell it if life takes a bad turn. 4. You know youll regret it. ( give me a good reason is a giveaway) in the end go with gut though, your rigs are there cuz you like em. Advice is good, but its your name on the title. Posted via Mobile Device |

That truck is too nice to get rid of! I'd keep it if I was you.
Trust me, you'll regret it. I sold my first one, back in November. I regretted it every day, but I got lucky and traded a Ford I bought for it back.

They don't make them anymore and I see more than 1 at the bottom of the pile on my bi-weekly scrap yard visits. The numbers get smaller every day.

If your wife's the one pressing you to sell, sounds like you'd be better off selling her
IT'LL SUCK if you sell it and you WILL regret it. If you're gonna sell it to finance another vehicle, just save up for it. And use it for your "taking the bikes to the track" truck.

Re: Considering selling the 87'! Give me a good reason not to!
Sell it!
If you need the $ for another project then sell it. Granted right now, with the weak economy, it'll be hard to get top dollar for it, but it's the time to line up your next project. You may regret it, but you can get great satisfaction when you buy it back in 5 yrs for far less than what you sold it for. Or your buddy says, did you see that chebbie on 5th and Main? You tell him, "yeah, I built it".

I say sell it. Sqaures are a dime a dozen. If a few years down the road you decide you still wanted it, then just go buy one of the 1000's for sale at any given time! If you are over it, start a new project.

Re: Considering selling the 87'! Give me a good reason not to!
Just depends on who you are. I know guys that go through cars like toilet paper. They get one, fix it up, drive it a little, and sell. Rinse and repeat. That's what makes them happy. Then there's the guys that have their daily drivers but keep one or two long term projects around. Who are you?

Re: Considering selling the 87'! Give me a good reason not to!
The fact that your asking makes me think you really want to keep it. Also, if you sold it, the money would go to a small 4x4 that would probably need "some" work (tires, battery, general maintenance, etc). If you were me, when you found the car you were after you would of already spent all the proceeds from your truck.
I vote keep the truck and save for a monte. Maybe consider a small car loan thru bank or credit union (they can be relatively cheap). Cut back on beer or starbucks for the loan....

Keep it!! That's a beautiful truck right there, something to be proud of, and like other guys have already said, you're gonna regret it as soon as you see the new owner get in and start rollin out of the driveway...just my 2 cents worth...

Re: Considering selling the 87'! Give me a good reason not to!
You will always want what you dont have. You want a MonteCarlo because you dont have one. Sell that nice truck and you will wish you had it back. Id test drive a Monte to see if thats what you really want. If you can afford to keep your C10 and get a small 4x4, then thats what I would do.

Re: Considering selling the 87'! Give me a good reason not to!
Sell it. I sold my 87 V30 last week. I put a outrageous price on it and sold it to a nice guy who was estatic to buy it. I personally get bored with cars/trucks. I find myself going turough 2-5 trucks a year. All chevy or gmc, but I buy something, fix it up a little and get bored. Ive had probably 20 of these trucks, there everywhere and cheap. I sold mine and bought a 11' gmc 2500 denali. Its hard to haul kids in the square bodys with regular cab. Personally I dont get attached to material things. Id sell anything except my family, for the right price.
