Turn signal switch swap woes/ looking for guidance
Hey gang, been a little while since iv'e posted. Finally getting warm here in colorado to poke around the truck again. i'm trying to change out my turn signal switch and cant seem to take of this metal shroud... Gave the thing a little motivation bu tugging/ lightly hammering, wont budge. What am I missing to get this thing out of the way?

There is a tool for that, it looks like a horse shoe that uses the shaft to push the locking disk down so you can get the snap ring off. If you can't rent or borrow a tool its a real pita to hold the disc down, that spring is crazy stiff.

I use a pice of pipe that I cut the sides on so that only 2 pins/sections remain, on top of that a washer large enoug on the outer diameter to sit on the pipe. Screw on the steering wheel nut.
When you tighten the nut it will push the disk down and you can pry the lock ring out with a small screwdriver. I did not have a picture of it, hope you understand my explanatin. Basicly a replica of the hores shoe tool.

I just did mine a few weeks ago. Get the tool, it makes it so easy. I rented the tool from autozone, $20. Just check your auto parts stores, they should be able to rent or sell you one...

Yeah any half decent auto parts store should have one,will make the job way easier.I have done it without,but not nice that spring is stiff.Good luck!!
