Greetings. I bought a 1961 Ford Unibody that has been altered. The 5lug F100 drums have been converted to 8lugs and the ford 9 has been replaced with an Eaton HO52 or HO72 (at least that is my assumption based on photos and bolt patterns). I have been reading and it appears the HO72 was a leaf while the HO52 was a coil. My question to you is, is this what the leaf stack look like from an HO72 or are these a Ford stack? I'm needing some bushings and can't tell what to order ford or chevy

HO52 can be either leaf or coil. The tapered ends make the main spring pack looks a lot like GM to me.... they seem to be the same shape as the springs on my K20. The clamp is different, possibly just from being a different model year (someone else will chime in).

The overloads appear to be aftermarket, as the ends are not tapered. Looks like a very sturdy set of springs; that thing must ride like a truck!

Im not sure how it rides. it was a $600 project. I look at it as $300 in rust, $100 for the rear and tires, $100 for the the 292 yblock, and $100 in glass.

on the topic, can the diff gaskets be bought at NAPA or do I just clean the face and apply some sealant?

Yes, gaskets can be had from Napa/autozone/etc.

You should just unhook the leafs and measure the bushings...more than likely, they're just a standard size. Although, sometimes you may need to knock out the metal outer sleeve, too.

Hello all, I just wanted to give another update to this Unibody. Come to find out the front axle is also a GM product. I noticed one of the shock mounts had been welded back on top. when I went to find out how to fix this, I noticed it wasn't a Ford design. After some cleaning and scraping I found a casting number on the axle.
3711410GM11
I was able to find 3711410 in a google search which said 1955-1959 3/4-1 ton. It has 8 lug drums on the front so im guessing 3600 or 3800 series truck.

At this point Im wondering if the the parts on this truck is worth more than the whole. what does an HO52 go for in the chevy parts world? would someone need this front axle as well?
