Alternate Heaters
Has anybody used an alternate heater setup from another vehicle in their trucks? I'm running a turbo, and don't have room for the fan and heater core housing. I'm not gonna run AC, and don't see the need for an aftermarket setup like Vintage air. There's gotta be an OEM setup that will fit well under the dash and provide good heat.

You can pick up a Summit Racing or Mojave heater for about 200 bucks brand new, compact units that put out very good heat and easier to fit than trying to cobble an oem heat setup into your truck.

I've looked at the Mojave heaters, and I'm not really interested. I would rather spend $50 on a setup that I can make look like it was meant to be there.

Ya I'ma keep watching to see what you come up with. My defrost ducts are rigged right now, at some point I want to rip my entire heating setup out and do something else. But the opposite for me, I want it all out of the cab. I don't need a giant box with flaps. Just constant 50/50 defrost and floor. On, or off.

Maybe you can get an early square body heater to work. The engine side of the firewall is pretty compact.

I have one out of a 74 that I could get you measurements from if you wanted to see if it would work.
 It is cable operated also, you may be able to make the original controller to work.

60-63 Chevy/GMC's had an "Economy heater" that the fan and core mounted under they dash, and only the heater core tubes went into the engine compartment. See post #5 for a picture.

The only pictures I see on that thread are in post #5, and #51. There are drawings of it on posts #32, and #50 if that helps any.

Something else I might try is to rebuild the heater core box so the core sits flat against the firewall. I just need to gain 3 or 4 inches.
