Snap-on 18 Volt Lithium Batteries

Thought i'd post this for those of you with Snap-on Battery Powered 18 Volt Drill and 1/2" impact guns, After 1 year or pureHeck with Them The Batteries are Now Back ordered so i sent this to Snap-on

Dear Snap-on,

I Am a Long time Snap-on Buyer, I have two 18Volt Lithium Batteries That are bad My Dealer Tells Me that These are on Back Order And its Been Almost 2 Months Now Can You Tell Me weather or Not that they are On Back Order? Part Number Ctb6187, I own Over 20k In Snap-on tools and Toolbox, But these 2 Batteries Have been My Worst Experience With snap-on Having been replaced once and now doing the same thing again, i'm down to one Ni-Cad Battery To share Between
My 1/2 impact and 18 Volt Drill. My Dealer told me i Could Trade My stuff in for the New Drill ANd impact Gun, but i don"t Want to Spend Another 1000 dollars When Mine Are Still Working, I'll Ready to tell my Dealer to Replace my Lithiums with Ni-Cad batteries And Refund the Difference to My account Seeing the Ni-Cad are 103 dollars and the Lithiums are 219 dollars, Or Give Me 2 Ni-Cad Per Lithium Battery. I am Highly Disappointed with Snap-on Now About this is Being Handled I've got $440 Dollars in batteries Sitting In my Toolbox That i Cant do Crap With. Please Help me out i'd like to get this resolved And Continue My Relationship With Snap-on

Soon To be Macto Customer

Re: Snap-on 18 Volt Lithium Batteries

Good luck getting help from them. Have you tried to take your batteries to a place like Interstate Battery to see if they rebuild them for you? I've had every one of my 18v batteries crap out and they told me I'd have to purchase new batteries. Wrong. I purchased a new drill and 1/2" impact from Matco. Done deal. Thanks Snap-on, oh wait?

Re: Snap-on 18 Volt Lithium Batteries

Snap on's customer service is null and void now. And MAC is even worse, I tossed the MAC lady out of here and told her never to come back. The Matco guy is a friend, and thats why i buy the Matco stuff.
I bought $12 in snap on stuff last year, and $1200 in Matco.

Re: Snap-on 18 Volt Lithium Batteries

I have had crap service from Snap-on for the last 6 years. They can't keep a dealer on this route and it sucks. My Matco guy loves it though.

Re: Snap-on 18 Volt Lithium Batteries

Noone will rebuild the batteries as they are the lithium and the problem normally is in one of the 2 circuit boards inside and not the battery, i'm at my wits end with them so i'm going to try to get them exchanged for 4 ni-cads and call it even, i like my snap dealer and hes always done me right expect for he never answers his phone but thats about it

That's what I did. Matco's 1/2" 18v impact rocks! IR is coming out with a 1100ftlb nut busting torque unit here shortly. But it is like $750 or so. I am not as pleased with my Matco 18v drill compared to my old Snap-on 18v drill. But my Matco guy actually comes here and will answer his phone.

Re: Snap-on 18 Volt Lithium Batteries

I am having trouble with my 2 18V LI Ion snap on batteries also.

Too bad too as when they work they are powerfull tools.

I am a field tester for the IR cordless impact (the first ones were junk). I had the latest one for about a week and they asked for it back. It was promising

Re: Snap-on 18 Volt Lithium Batteries

yeah i love my drill and 1/2 inch impact gun the LI Ion Batteries are junk if the side on the bottom is green the gun and use the Li Ion and the Ni-cad batteries, i just had 1 on my LI Swaped For 2 Ni-cad batteries i figured i can get 4-5 years out of the Ni-cad if i charge it then full discharge it and then recharge it the gun is just as strong with the Ni-cads then as the Li Ion batteries but they don't hold the charger as long but hey i now have 2 Batteries

Re: Snap-on 18 Volt Lithium Batteries

Snap on batteries have always been garbage. I spent 5k last year alone on the Snap on truck but I refuse to buy there battery powered tools. I would go buy another brand personally. I dont like Matco and Mac guys are non existent in this area. I would look into makita or something similar.
