Help identify 71-72 and 73-87 steering parts?
Picked up this frame a few days ago... It is a 69 frame that has been converted to 5 lug with front disc. I've been trying to figure out how the previous owner did the front disc conversion so I can buy some parts for it. Looks like a 71-72 set up to me???

I have not had any luck with the casting #'s on the calipers and spindles. The person I bought it from had purchased it just for the motor and trans he got with it. He had no specific information about anything that has been done to it.

I can say the uppers and lowers on my '86 don't look like that.

Thanks! I didn't think they did, but what confuses me is there are welded tabs for the brake hose on the front of the crossmember. I didn't think you had to do that unless you swapped the whole crossmember out....

The only way to know which spindle that PO used,... is to determine which upper ball joint or outer tie rod you have.
The later 71-72 and 73-87 balljoints will press into and bolt into the 63-70 a-arms.

What would be the easiest way to determine this? Buy a tie rod end for each and see which one matches up?

The parts store might not stock the 71-72 stuff. Another way to tell is if you have the light duty 1" rotors. These are a 73-87 ONLY design. If they are the 1.25" wide rotors,... then you will need to check with parts listed above.

They are the 1.25" wide rotors, so I will go ahead and get the 73-87 outer tie rod and check it out. Thanks for all the help guys!
