Chevelle SS of a new ERA!

Hey guys, I know that some of you know that I bought my wife a 72 chevell SS a while ago. It is rough to begin with but it is a start. I keep gathering parts for it and decided I would start a build thread for it. I realize that it will not get done or really started anytime soon, but this is a start and may keep me motivated a little to start it. I really want to start on it this fall. plans for it are kinda crazy to be honest, lol. but it will be unique none the less. I am sorry to the people that this build may offend, being that the car is a real SS. but to be honest, there is nothing left of it. so Let's have a little fun with it. Here is a few pics. Ok Ok, if you know me, tons of pics.

First ones are how I found it. Not much there but a start.

Re: Chevelle SS of a new ERA!

A few more once we got her home. The deal with this car is that mw and the wife agreed not to spend alot of money on it, but we needed a family hot rod. so this is a start. Also a pic of the wife, not quite sure what the heck this is doing here! And it in it's final resting place beside the father-in-law's Trans Am.

Re: Chevelle SS of a new ERA!

Now this is where it goes a little crazy!! I wanted a pro-touring-ish car for the wife. but was not sure how we could afford to do the suspension we wanted while still being able to have the driveability of a new car and reliability for the wife and kids. That is where this comes in!! I picked up a 04 GTO rolling chassis. I am gonna WEST COAST CUSTOMS this car. here is a link as to what they kinda do: http://www.westcoastcustoms.com/blog/?p=4983 , you get the idea. so with this now in mind, we get a new interior, cruise, a/c...... everything we need and the looks of an original MUSCLE CAR!!! I am gonna use the complete interior in the chevelle, suspension and alot of the frame as well as the fuel system. Call me INSANE NOW!!!!

Re: Chevelle SS of a new ERA!

As for the engine, I have a 4.8L and a 5.3L and also a couple of turbos', you get the idea. might just put the stock engine in at first, but I am gonna say that it will get the turbo right away!! may as well. And going this route with the GTO I can install a big brake kit, and a PEDDERS suspension kit to improve the handling dramatically!!! And here is a hint as to the color. Either one is HOK. and it will have White ice stripes of some sort. Wife gets to pick it all out. It is her car! Either True Blue pearl, or Magenta. totally up to her, and it may change yet. who knows. But as I have updates, I will be adding them on here. remember this is gonna be a slow build. If anyone knows of some parts...... let me know. BTW, We are putting a 70 front clip on it also for the double headlights so they match the double taillights of the 72!

I may just have to do that once I start on it!!! That is a good idea. I can always use a little more inspiration. That convertible would be a nice car!
