Re: factory 4 speed ???

I had an 81 with a 4 speed. It was a New Process A833Y. I believe that only the 3/4 - 1ton trucks had the Muncie sm465 in them. The NP is Aluminum and the Muncie is steel.

Correct. RPO MY6. It's a MOPAR trans with third gear as 1:1, and 4th gear as .73:1 overdrive.

That is the trans I have in my truck.

By the way, we built about 15 million of these square body trucks so, in spite of the seller's comments, there's not too much about them that's rare.

Re: factory 4 speed ???

Yes that depends on the option ordered. My 86 C10 was ordered with the SM465, which also includes a 2 piece driveshaft. Strange thing to see on a short bed truck.

Re: factory 4 speed ???

95% of the 4 speeds were an SM465, the others were the mopar trans mentioned already. They're a dime a dozen with 4 speeds in them, don't let him kid you.
