replacing all brake lines 00 Silverado
Rear line is leaking. All the ones at the ABS module look really bad. Lines run outside and on top of the frame. Also never had to bleed an ABS system. Is the procedure any different. Any advice is appreciated
Thanks |

Re: replacing all brake lines 00 Silverado
its a sh**ty job. the lines under the cab require jacking cab up. bleading is the same as normal. you can get a full stainless pre bent line set from lmc trk for just over $300. dont hesitate changing them though. i had one going from the master to abs box blow and I rear ended a honda civic.

Re: replacing all brake lines 00 Silverado
Thanks for the reply. I got a set of lines coming. I looked at where all 4 lines dive under the cab. Do you know if you can loosen just the front cab mount and get it to lift enough to do what I need. The wiring harness is strapped and what looks like a ground is bolted to the frame mount. I want to make sure I don't screw any thing up.
Thanks Again |

I "feel" what you are looking at, just parted a wrecked 2000! My thoughts, are , take the front cab mount loose, as well as the rad support on that side. Hope that will give you enough room to "play". BE carefull, reaching tween that cab & frame (I still have 9 1/2 of my fingers) Let us know how it goes...crazyL

Re: replacing all brake lines 00 Silverado
you just need to loosen the right and remove the left bolts and rad support bolts then jack the cab up a couple inches. there is plenty of slack in the harness etc. this will give you enough room to work.

Re: replacing all brake lines 00 Silverado
Well its all done and works Great. I loosened the front and Back cab mounts on drivers side and had plenty of room. Spent time making map of which lines went where on ABS etc. Got new wrench set for Christmas that had the Stubby or short wrenches. With out them I never would have been able to tighten lines at ABS module. this is the crappiest design of brake lines I have ever seen. My 03 are a cake walk compared to these. My 03 lines are decent except one to back is getting rusty. the one on the 00 trashed. Friend who has 00 that is driven all the time 144K lines look Great. Friends 02 barely driven 78K lines are trashed. makes me think GM got lines from 2 different sources. No rhyme or reason to which lines on which trucks are junk. Stricly hit or miss
