'95 Impala spindles/brakes on '72 C10
I bought a '95 Impala for a donor car for engine, trans., wheels.
The control arms are a very different mount and shape than the '72 C10. The Impala arms angle backward and are not symetric. 1) Has anyone ever used '92-'96 Impala/Caprice/Roadmaster spindles on a Chevy C10? Would be a great way to get disk brakes for free. 2) If you have done this type of swap, what problems did you overcome? Thanks |

I was looking for info on swapping front spindles and brakes. Mistyped my original inquiry. My Donor is a '95 Caprice/Roadmaster that does not have rear disks. Thanks |

I'm sure anything is possible if you have the money, time, and skills to make 'em work.
It would seem though that it would just be easier and less complicated to either go the aftermarket route or use some 1971 and up spindles and disk brakes. I just noticed you say you have a 1972 C10 correct? It should allready have disk brakes up front. Keith |

I have '72 C10 control arms but not the spindles, but I'm actually upgrading a pre-disk brake vehicle.
Already have the '95 donor car so thought it might be worth looking into. Thanks |

Actually the vehicle I'm building is a 1937 Buick Roadmaster (first model series). I inherited this car and played in it as a kid, my grandparents bought the car in 1942 when it was 5 years old. There is little in the way of aftermarket available. The car is one of the first with ifs, but has king pins and drum brakes. My goal is to resto-mod the car, but keep the integrity keep the geometry of the ifs. After crawling under hundreds of cars and trucks, I found that the 67-87 Chevy/GMC trucks have a front suspension that is very similar in geometry to the '37 Roadmaster. I purchased '72 upper and lower control arms and planned on buying drop spindles & disk brakes to match these control arms, which is still an option. I recently bought a donor 1995 Roadmaster with 52K miles (last model series built). Will be using the LT1 engine, 4L60E engine, rear axle, steering column, instuments, electrical, and modified seats from this car. Patrons of this site and hot rod sites pointed me to this site which brings me to my questions:
1) Has anyone ever used '92-'96 Impala/Caprice/Roadmaster spindles on a Chevy C10? 2) If you have done this type of swap, what problems did you overcome? Thanks |
