Factory fire extinguisher?

I just noticed my truck has a fire-extinguisher mount and a tag hanging from it. It's painted cab color, but I've never seen one before. Is this a normal item, a rare option, or dealer-owner installed?

1970 GMC 2500 Sierra Grande Longhorn

Thanks!
Dave

Re: Factory fire extinguisher?

I believe the 'mount' is a standard thing all trucks got to retain the jack. Every truck I've had the jack was gone so I never paid attention to how it's used. The tag may or may not be a GM item.

Re: Factory fire extinguisher?

Yep, the jack is long gone. I imagine they're reproduced.

When I was a little kid my Dad awoke to some noise outside, and it was someone stealing the wheels off his '68 GMC. They hadn't got a wheel off yet, and when he turned on the light, they bolted, but left behind an awesome industrial rachet-style jack, which he kept. So we never had to use the bottle jack or whatever they came with.

Re: Factory fire extinguisher?

the lugwrench and jackhandels were in a sort of styrofoamy type bag thing that was held in place by the spring
