Newer Bellhousing...will it bolt up?

I have an SM-465 bellhousing that's for a hydraulic clutch, will that bolt up to the stock crossmember on my 63? The truck has an SM-420 in it now, and I was wondering if it would be worth it to dig out the newer bellhousing. Thanks!

That bellhousing can work, but you will have to remove the bellhousing crossmember, and add a rear trans mount. Which a SM420 does not have provisions for. You would also need an adapter ring for the front bearing retainer, as the '68 and newer bellhousings have a larger hole for the larger bearing retainer. If you need the hydraulic bellhousing, it would be easier to switch to the SM465.

Sorry, I should have included more details. I plan on using an SM-465/NP-203 combo as part of the project. I have a hydraulic clutch bellhousing for the SM-465. I was hoping to use the stock 63 crossmember, but it sounds like it won't. Is there a way to make it work? I was hoping to avoid drilling out frame rivets. Thanks!!!

IT looks like I'm going to have to remove the stock crossmember anyways. I did some more looking at the truck and noticed part of it was cut to clear the rear shackles for the leaf springs.

The original bellhousing crossmember will likely hit the bottom of that bellhousing. Besides you really don't need it in there since you will have a crossmember under the transfer case adapter anyway. If you don't want to deal with the rivets, just cut it off flush with the frame flanges.
