84 Power window motor $_*
Hi guys,
I have been recently thinking of replacing my old power window motor because it gets slower and junker. I have been wondering that where I can buy BRAND NEW nos GM, something that can give me the real POWER that makes me showing off whenever I slide up/down the window. my car is stebside gmc truck 1984. Where can I buy the strongest power window motor whether GM NOS or aftermarket that makes me proud of my car? What quality do classic parts and LMC have? Thank you,

Re: 84 Power window motor $_*
Not to burst your bubble, but the stock GM or AC/Delco power window motors never did run real fast. Some guys are using a relay modification which you can search for here. I did not do the relay mod. I did replace my motors with genuine AC/Delco - not much more cost than aftermarket. LMC and Classic parts have aftermarket motors. Here are some online vendors for genuine GM and AC/Delco parts:
www.oewarehouse.com www.oehq.com www.autopartstomorrow.com www.gmpartsdirect.com www.rockauto.com Note: just new motors may not solve your problem. Switches and connecting harnesses might also be bad, causing intermittent slow or no go power windows. |

I replaced my switches from LMC and the windows went a little faster, then my spocket on the motor stripped out so I went to O'Riellys bought a new motor and now they work exellent.

I will do the switches and connections with motors. however, do you recommend me to wait until I find genuine one or just buy the aftermarket?

I would not buy anything but Delco motors. They are cheap and readily available.

I am not sure why your are having trouble. Just enter your year, make model, engine, etc. and you should find your part:

Re: 84 Power window motor $_*
Keep in mind, when you install a new motor, lubricate your regulator. Binding - worn out regulators eat new motors. Same thing with wiper motors, make sure to lube the wiper transmission.
Me? ... I removed my power windows and changed to manuals. Last edited by Weasel Diesel; 03-17-2012 at 08:47 AM. |
