230 compression?
Well guys I did a compression test on my engine and it came out to about 90lbs per cyl. I dont have the specs but it seems low. any thoughts?

Re: 230 compression?
I think 130 is the spec.
Warm engine? (a cold motor will give low readings) Crank each cylinder for about 10 seconds? Throttle held open? at least they're all around the same pressure.

Re: 230 compression?
The motor was cold and I did not hold the throttle open. Did crank it for about 10 sec though. I'll try a differant gauge and see how it compares.

Re: 230 compression?
DISABLE THE IGNITION SYSTEM, HOLD THE THROTTLE WIDE OPEN, THEN, DO THE COMPRESSION TEST.
Now, after all that, what is the compression pressure reading for each cylinder?? |
