Re: What did you get done 3/19/12 edition

I finished going from drum brakes to disc brakes on the old dually. Stops much better now!! I can't believe I waited as long as I did to do this extremely low cost swap.

Re: What did you get done 3/19/12 edition

Rebuilt both vent windows and replaced all rubber and weather stripping on ole blue. Also removed all trim and door panels and repainted it all blue to freshen it up some. Turned out OK but I am not real happy with it all. I had a hard time finding the correct color of dark blue. I will redo it all later on though once i find the right color. I am thinking about having the door panels covered in vinyl or leather to match the newly recovered dash. I also painted the carpet kick panels and the carpet inserts on the doors. Not a big fan of painting carpet though. Once it dries, you can rub it with a bristle brush and it brings back some of the softness.

I can say I am officially tired of working on the interior. I literally worked on my truck till mid-night Friday night, 10 hours yesterday till 1:00 am this morning and also worked on it all day today. And I feel like I got nothing done, for the amount of time I put in anyways...... Oh well, it was fun and I learn something new every time I work on it.

Celebrated our twin boys second birthday Saturday. Also mocked up the battery disconnect for my '73 on my '75, and disassembled a used playset and hauled it home in the '75...which did a fantastic job with such a big heavy load. Fun and busy weekend!

I went to visit some family near Austin and ended up going to the junkyard. Scored these for my '78 stepside.

Getting closer to getting the TPI swap running. Fixed all the mechanical issues, now it appears the computer I got from the junkyard is no good. Picking up a Delco unit from the junkyard in the morning, to replace the Napa reman I got before.

Re: What did you get done 3/19/12 edition

I took my rally rims to my sandblaster/ powdercoater guy on Friday and realized I had (3) 15x8s and (1) 15x7......... So I found a single 15x8 on Craigs List and picked it up on Saturday. I dropped it off at his house and back in business. The powder should be here this Thursday so I should have them back next neek sometime. I was lucky to find just one rim for sale.

I also tried to start the shorty project I bought back in October and almost had it until the battery lost all of it's juice. I'll pop another battery in it and try again later. I just want to hear how it runs before I tear it out and start working on the frame and suspension. I'd like to know the condition of it so I know what my plans for the engine will be.

I also replaced the crappy 6x9 speakers in the front doors of my Grand Cherokee with a set of Rockford Fosgates and they sound so much better. Now I have to replace the rear door speakers and hook up the amps and subs in the next ffew weeks.

Re: What did you get done 3/19/12 edition

Did my brake booster swap, so now the brakes work, but the computer still throwing MAF and transmission codes. MAF is probably due to the intake I put on, trans. needs some looking into

Re: What did you get done 3/19/12 edition

Had to send my truck to a workshop to get carb and ignition tuned and get a new balancer installed. Should get it back this week. Found a good grill and a near perfect rear cab trim + corners in a local add, got it all for 50$ . Other than that nothing truck related.
