4 Link vs Trailing Arm on 73-87 C10

Heres my question that I would like to get feed back on. I have a 74 stepside with a bigblock, aluminum heads, 400 trans with 3500 stall converter 15x7.5 in front and 15x10 in rear. With either one I plan to use rear coilovers. Ive had a 65 shortbed in the past with trailing arms and loved the ride. But to convert my truck, I believe the cost is about the same. My truck will just be a weekend driver. So what would benefit fit my truck the most?

Re: 4 Link vs Trailing Arm on 73-87 C10

4 link systems work very well and can produce great results for performance applications because you can fine tune them, but they take allot of time to tune to get them just right. The trailing arms do a good job with just some basic setup, much more pug and play and not allot of adjustments to fiddle with. 4 links are cool and if you want to wow people they are the way to go, but the ease and simplicity of trailing arms makes them much more suitable for day to day driving. Do some reading on the “Make it Handle” thread here in the suspension sub-forum and towards the rear of the thread Rob form No Limit goes over different rear suspension types.

Good luck on your decision and have fun!

Thanks. Ive built 4 links for customers in the past, but on light weight hotrods. Never owned a vehicle with 4 link myself, thats why I was curious on a heavy C10. I will look at Robs info. Thanks again, Matt.
