Re: 1966 C10 SWB resto mod
Here it is, my first truck. It is a 1966 c10 SWB that was purchased on eBay out of Wisconsin. Truck came up from California in 2008 and is now in my possession. Looking to do a resto-mod. (lowered on 20"s) I've made a lot of progress since it came home and will upload pictures of the freshly painted box and interior ASAP. Was originally a 250 inline 6 with a 4 speed transmission on the floor. (3 speed with bull-low) All drive train has been pulled. In place of the original drive train i have built a bored .030 over 350 sbc with flat top TRW pistons, rebuilt 2.02 heads and a lumpy cam. As for transmission I am in the search for two donor T-5 transmissions for my build. One being from v8 Camaro on and another from an s10. Then hopefully do a tail stock swap to relocate the shifter to a more suitable forward location. I'm new to the forums and would like to hear any advice towards completing my build. Thanks for looking!

Re: 1966 C10 SWB resto mod
Just a few pics of the truck in primer. Now for the paint. I decided to change the original colour to a 2011 bmw colour called interlagos blue effect and a two tone of pearl white. Here is the engine, going with the stock look with 283 badging. Had to custom weld oil filler and pcv connector into valve covers to allow for newer edelbrock performer intake. |

Re: 1966 C10 SWB resto mod
Heres a side shot of the box during the wet sanding process. Ordered custom trim from lmc. Hopefully the cab will be painted in the next few weeks so I can work on lowering the truck and converting to power disc brakes.

Wow!
The truck looks to be in exceptional shape!...A very nice find. How long ago did you start on this? it seems like you are half-done already! BTW, I'm partial to BMW & dark blue! Nice job. |

Re: 1966 C10 SWB resto mod
The truck was in amazing shape due to it coming from california, rockers, cab corners, doors were all mint. Only repairs i did were fender bottoms and a few quarter sized holes in the floor and of course box front. Very typical for these trucks. I was surprised to see that the front of the hood and the side rears of the hood where they always rust were still perfect. Ive had the truck for 2 years actually. I had to help my dad finish that 58^ before we could start on mine. I'm in my first year of college so funds are tight for the build. But I'm not one to cut corners so i'll wait to do it right. Im hoping i can have it done this summer to cruise in. We also have a 65 lowered swb 350/350. That we partially restored. Very clean driver. Going to sell it this spring when it comes out of storage. Ill try and get some pics of it up here, I just don't have any on my laptop at school.

Heres the 1965 c10. It has been painted for 13 years and still shines great. We replaced wood in the box this year and painted inside the box.
