Radiator holdown rubber cushion?

Has anyone had to trim these to get a good fit? My hold downs are an inch to high, at least.

Re: Radiator holdown rubber cushion?

I had the same problem, ended up using a good set of used OEM. I have no idea what brand they were but they were moulded way too thick.

I got mine from the local GM dealer and had the same thing. They do compress some when clamped down.
Looks like you have a 4 row radiator too. How well does your shroud fit up to it?

Re: Radiator holdown rubber cushion?

I too ran into this. Since I was going from a 2 or 3 row to a 4 row I had all new, aftermarket parts. Since I didn't want to throw all those shiney new parts away I fabricated up some little bracket extenders. It has been that way since 2005 when I installed it all.

Fan shroud fits fine. It was on there previously with this radiator.

Did you change from a 3 core to a 4 core radiator? If so did you change the bottom support saddles?

No sir. I just took everything apart and powder coated or painted it so it pretty much has to be the cushion I would think. The old ones were pretty squished though.

Sounds like it. I haven't seen any of the replacement cushions to see what they look like..

Make sure you have the bottom seated in the rubbers good.I thought I had the same problem until I looked carefully.

Re: Radiator holdown rubber cushion?

Well I cut them down last night and I think it will solve my problem but I ran out of daylight.
