Disc brakes for the rear of my 81 shortbox???

What are people doing to swap the drum rear brakes for disc set up? I'd like to do this to mine. What other vehicles rear disc brakes would work for our 81-87 shorts? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

I personally don't thing its worth the swap because you will end up proportioning the rear brakes so they wont lock up on you. I had a 81 Chevy that the rears would want to lock under hard braking and its not good when the rear wheels try skid past the front. If it was on a truck that towed or hauled alot then I would say go for it. It would do you a lot of good.

The rear brakes only do what 20% or 30% of the total braking.I would spend the money to get bigger brakes in the front before i would disc in the rear.

You can use a Caddy or Lincoln rear end too. Just move the perches for mounting. They both have the same bolt pattern. 70's and some 80's disc rear ends have nice gears too.

Look over in the site vendors section for Captainfab. He sells the rear disc brackets and has part numbers listed for common parts.
