68 2 wd Body on a 72 4x4 chassis
Hi,
I have a 68 2wd LWB that I want to put on a 72 4x4 chassis. My question is this---- Will everything fit without to much modification? What is the difference between a low hump cab and a high hump cab? I can see no difference, except the 4x4 cab has the hump with the shifter for the transfer case. The guy I am buying the chassis from will give me the hump if that is the only difference. Sorry to sound so ignorant, but I have never done this sort of conversion before! The reason I want to do this is I have a lot more use for a 4WD than a 2WD ( I live in Wyoming and do a lot of hunting) but the body and drivetrain on my 68 is really nice and I will not need to look for a cab, and front clip, and box. I will have to find a transfer case and transmission as my turbo 400 transmission will not work. Any input from you guts would be greatly appreciated. |

I've done it before. That body will bolt right on. As far as the hump is concerned, if your 68 has a TH400 then it already has a high hump. All you need to do is cut the appropriate hole(s) in it. If the guy is going to give you a hump that will already fit then I would take it. Good luck and have fun!
