Should I buy this truck?

So I'm thinking pretty hard about picking up this truck. Its for sale through an acquaintance for $1500. I don't really 'Need' another truck/project but I was thinking that this might be a too good to pass up kind of deal??

Its a 78 swb cheyenne 2wd that's been sitting in his garage for about the last 8 years only being started occassionally. Mildly built 350, only rust is on the fender/wheel well below the battery (I searched everywhere), body is straight and in pretty good shape (except the hood is slightly bowed), interior is 'okay' but needs cleaned badly and some trim pieces. The only real 'issues' that I noticed was the tilt column is really loose and the rear tailights stay on even after the truck is shut off.

Does this seem like a good deal for the 73-87 model? I'm pretty up to date on what the 67-72's swb go for but not so much on these years. Thanks!

Re: Should I buy this truck?

Based on the minimal amount of rust you described, I would say its a smoking deal.

If no rust and everything works then a truck like that could fetch $5000 here.

Agreed, go get it. That's a heck of a deal. I paid $2K for an old 4x4 3/4 ton that a snow removal company owned before me. Talk about rust and mickey-moused wires.. that's all you find near me.

Re: Should I buy this truck?

The brake lights stay on, on mine because the brake pedal doesn't always travel all the way back up. I have learned just to pump the brake pedal a couple of times when I'm getting out so the pedal comes up all the way.

Just that alone would get me. SWB are hard to come by in some parts and even harder in others. Worst case, you don't get around to it, clean it up a little and either sale and make some extra cash or part it out.
