Question about open ports
I have a question about a couple of open ports on my intake and on my radiator, First the intake, there are two threaded ports to the left of where the radiator hose attaches to the intake. I think one is for the heater and one is for vacuum but Im not sure, can someone help me out?
Second question is regarding the ports on my radiator there are four of them on the right hand side which are currently capped, Im pretty sure I wont be using any of them as I do not have a transmission cooler or anything else. Let me know what you think. See pictures below |

Re: Question about open ports
I think both of them are plumbed to the cooling passage, so heater is one of them, yes, but the other wouldn't be vacuum. On many engines I've seen, mostly older vehicles, the other is plugged, but I believe it is an option for a temperature sensor. I've seen at least one SBC with a temp sensor there.

Re: Question about open ports
The two smaller on the other side are for trans cooler. The top ones that are bigger I believe can hold a glass guage that shows coolant level

Re: Question about open ports
So I figure I can just plug all of the ones on the radiator?

Re: Question about open ports
The two ports on the intake can be used for heater hose hook-up or temp gauge sending unit....just don't hook a heater hose to each...haha...one hose usually goes to the radiator....
Ya may wanna remove the plugs and look inside to verify that they're for a trans cooler....(most likely they are)....

your gona use those two of those "ports" on the rad for the in/out lines from the tranny, open the cap and look inside confirm it's seperate from the rad fluid(prob smaller ports) one of the larger rad ports is prob for the heater core, and one from the pump ....
