Re: Engine color?

The 454 in my '92 K-3500 is black, factory color. The 454 in my '67 is black. Since both of them are driver's I think they will be less prone to show dirt and leaks.

Re: Engine color?

Black, it also has a plus size, smokey Yunick proved that a black engine runs 20% cooler than a colored engine

Re: Engine color?

I vote for black on the engine but change the color in the fins on the valve covers and air cleaner to match the color of the truck.

Re: Engine color?

Corvette used a Sunset Orange and the Atomic Orange. That looks real close to the Atomic Orange. I am using that on my Roadster in my avatar when I am ready for paint. Great color on yours, can we see the whole truck?

hayhauler, I think orange looks good in your engine bay, but to break up my oranges truck and engine bay I thought black would do that for mine....

Re: Engine color?

I was gonna say same color as the truck. If not, then black. You might also check into the Cast Coat Iron color I painted my old SBC. The dark grey color will still break up the engine bay colors, but not be plain old black. (Disclaimer--Not that there's anything wrong with black or that I have anything against it. ) It also still pops with some chrome against it.

Re: Engine color?

You know you're dying to paint it BLACK!!!
It will match the valve covers and give it some contrast.

Re: Engine color?

I agree with shyguy black really does hide lots of the road grime after some miles on it.
