3/4 ton dog dish caps

Has anyone had good luck with pushing out the center of the 73 and up concave caps to make them convex and correct for 72? Interested if this can be done without wrecking them. If you did it with good results, how did you do it and were they stainless, chrome or painted? Thanks.

I believe Frank (Pickmup) has done it to the stainless ones if I am not mistaken.
