idle help (about to go crazy)!

my idle keeps getting way out of adjustment ive fixed it multiple times even took it to a shop and they adjusted it and it stayed good for about 4 days now it idles really low and quits after about 25sec good thing its a 3 on the tree so i can keep it running at stop signs and stuff its just aggravating. its a 250 inline 6 one barrell carb

77 c10 (went from a inline 6 to 350) (converted to 3 speed in the floor)
350: mild cam, holley 600cfm 4bbl, summit stage 1 intake, accel billet distributer, flowtech headers, 2 1/4" exhaust with glasspacks, powermaster 160a alternator.

Might be a weak spring on the idle screw.

I guess the choke is working ok? The throttle shaft gets worn on those and can cause that. You might try and rebuild it, but that won't cure it if the shaft or body is worn. You might have to spring for a new carb, in the long run it would be worth it. That is a neat old truck, love the six with the 3-speed. Really cool to see you young guys appreciating these trucks.

Sounds to me you have a weak spring. It may be a good idea to rebuild it. Just plan out a weekend pull it off. block the hole from any garbage that could get in. I can rebuild a quadrajet in 4 hours. however you do have to find where the setting are. so before you take it off get it about where you want it mark it and when its off back the screws off and count the turns
