6 cyl manifold leak
My truck that I recently bought has a massive exhaust leak where the intake and exhaust manifolds meet under the carb. someone packed JB Weld in to fill the gap but it's not holding. Is something missing or are these two parts not meant to go with each other?
Also, where can I identify the CID of the engine? Do I decode the casting number, or is the engine size stated somewhere. A specific location would help as the block has a thick coat of grime. Thanks, Scott |

Re: 6 cyl manifold leak
You can tell if it's a 292 by measuring the side covers on the passenger side of the block. 4 1/2 is 250 or below and about 6 is a 292. Also a 292 has an offset passenger motor mount where the 250 & under has motor mounts centered on each side.
There should be matching flanges on the intake and exhaust with a gasket between them but it seems like yours don't quite match up like they should.

Re: 6 cyl manifold leak
You are going to need another ex. manifold & possibly intake also. I would look for a good clean set & put them on together. Yours is cracked & burned out.

Re: 6 cyl manifold leak
If you decide you need a new intake, I have a good one (but no exhaust) sorry. I'd take $50 shipped for it. There are pics on the FS thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=471718&page=3
