4" Tuff Country Ez-Ride 56" Rear Springs

SOLD!
These are from my retired 3/4t Suburban. They didn't see a lot of use because the vehicle was only run occasionally since I work out of my other truck for a living. The bushing sleeves are not rusted and the cushions are still like new. I used the front springs on my Jimmy and bought new 52" springs for the rear rather than drop the tank, modify the bumper mounts, and hitch to move the spring mounts back. In a pickup that originally has 52" springs, this is an easy mod to give better flex/ride and will be a bolt-on deal on trucks that came with 56". SOLD!

Here's a link to Suspension Connection for details:

Re: 4" Tuff Country Ez-Ride 56" Rear Springs

4" lift EZ-Rides. 56" long. Will really improve the ride on a 4wd that came with 52" or bolt-on if it came with 56". It's easy to move the spring hangers back.

Just tryin' to squeeze this one little thread in here amongst the many others. Sure is hard to keep a thread from falling into oblivion these days with the amount of members constantly keeping several threads up on the 1st page.

Re: 4" Tuff Country Ez-Ride 56" Rear Springs

I see there's some matching front springs listed now,so I thought I'd bring their rear counterparts back for a quick visit to the top again

Tim, do you take lay-away? How far do you have to move the rear mounts?

Re: 4" Tuff Country Ez-Ride 56" Rear Springs

I believe 4" because these are 56" and the shorter ones are 52". If you are interested,I will work with you. Any chance you'd make it to Carlisle Trucks? If you did buy them you could get them there to avoid shipping.

What would you consider to be a reasonable time frame for these to be paid in full? I want to make sure we are both in agreement.

Talked to the people at your link, they said that i should move spring mounts out 2" on both ends. Gets rid of my blocks, and keeps the axle centered

Thanks

Re: 4" Tuff Country Ez-Ride 56" Rear Springs

Hmm...you should only have to move the rear mount back 4" and the front stays in the stock location. The center bolt is not centered on the 56" spring; the back half is 4" longer on a 56 than a 52 but they both share the same dimensions on the front half.

Weird, their tech line doesnt have that info., sounds like our forum is more knowledgeable then they are....go figure
Makes it easier for me to only move one spring mount, per side

Tim, did your suburban have a factory shackle, dont know if it matters, but im putting these springs on my jimmy with a factory shackle

Re: 4" Tuff Country Ez-Ride 56" Rear Springs

First of all,I always understood it as blue 70k5 describes...just move the rear back, pin is same dimension from front on 52" or 56". The frame rail runs straight all the way back,so no affect on ride height. If the front was moved it would lower the mounting point (raise the vehicle),just like when putting longer springs in front. When installing the even longer 88-up rear leafs (64"?),then you need to move the front mount forward as well as rear backwards.
Yes,I used the factory shackles.
How does having them paid by Carlisle Trucks sound? That's about two months away...first weekend in August. Maybe you could bring last payment and carry them home? Works for me if it works for you. But,I'll work with whatever you want to agree on.

As mentioned the 56" springs have the center pin offset 4" to the front, whereas the 52" springs are centered. So by leaving the front mount in place and moving the rear shackle hanger back 4" it will leave the axle centered in place. Just another confirmation. Also FYI these Tuff Country springs are the best riding lift springs out there on the market, way better ride than rancho/skyjacker/rough country/etc. If I would have seen these earlier I might would have nabbed them up for my 1ton and just thrown a couple more leaves in.

Re: 4" Tuff Country Ez-Ride 56" Rear Springs

Thanks guys for all the info., great thing about this board, the input...

Tim, thank you for the liberal time constraint, but was hoping to have them paid off by the end of June(pension check). PMO or paypal, ill accept fees on my end

I realize you live out in the country, but, would it be a great expense to get to a greyhound terminal

Anyone know where to get u bolts, was going to contact DIY4X for the greaseable leaf spring bolts

Now i have to deal with RIVETS

Go here http://www.huskyspring.com/ to find the part number of the U-bolts you need. Then search for that part number on Rockauto.com as it will be cheaper there. Then you can also get a 5% off coupon for Rockauto from retailmenot.com. I think the HUGE 14.5" long 5/8" u-bolts for my 1 ton were about $8 each after all that. The normal price was like $18 each before that.

As far as the rivets, if you have access to a cutting torch that is the fastest way to knock the head of the rivet off then knock the rivet through. If not a cut off wheel and making little X marks in each rivet, then using a chisel to break off the little bits of the head is pretty easy. Don't waste your time drilling or grinding away on them.

That sounds great. I met up with Jimer64 and he's hoping to get back down for the bed and axles before too long and is willing to take them back to Coatesville. My feeling is it should time out well for you. We'll keep in touch on it.
