dipstick trouble

Hate to ask this because should be easy fix. I got a transmission dipstick and tube off of a 70-72 nova which i believe had a powerglide tranny. My 67 chevy truck has a later 70's th350 and I wanted to put the 70-72 nova dipstick/tube in the th350 but seems to not go pass the O ring, SO this is slightly off from allowing me to bolt it down. Where they different opening size difference for the powerglide vs th350?
