SM465 identification
Is there any positive way to identify how many splines are on the transmission input shaft without removing the transmission from the truck (SM465, 4 speed, granny low).

I've got an SM-465 sitting in my shop. I'll count the splines and post up tomorrow.

I've only ever seen 10 teeth on the heavy trannies. That continues to the NVG4500 used through the late '90s.

1project2many... you are right! I was confused while reading the SM465 article on Novak Conversions web site. The output shaft came in three flavors... the input shaft only came in a 10 spline 1 1/8 diameter.... thanks!
