custom bumpers
ok so i have had my c20 for 6 years now and it is time for some goodies thanks to uncle sam (tax return). so i have been looking somewhat for some kind of a bumper for the front. something like a buck bumper??? i think that is what they are called anyway is there anyone that makes these for the 86 vhevys? all i find are the 88 and up. i would be happy with i brush gard but would like some thing that can take a hit or push a car with out being a push bumper as i have a wrecker for that. i have thought about makiing one but i cant weld yet and would not know where to start. if any of you have done this or know where to get one plz let me know. thanks, mike

Re: custom bumpers
Here's what we came up with for my truck's "push bar". I wanted to retain the look of the stock grille & bumper, but add the strength up front with out to much of an eye sore.

Re: custom bumpers
Only thing i can think of is http://diy4x.com/cart/index.php?rout...product_id=142 the base bumper is just the bumper with out the lights, winch or shackle tabs.

Re: custom bumpers
I dont know if this will help as i dont have a picture but the locak fire department here had a 87 or so crew cab brush truck.. they were able to extend out the bumper and put about four to five inches of diampnd plate behind that and they made a guard similar to the one above and it had the attachments on either side that would prevent damages to the headlights. they also had a siren and winch mounted on the diamonbd plate and some hooks under it and pintles on top..
Only other thing i can suggest is to find a picture of the CUCV front bumpers and have one of those painted for your truck

Re: custom bumpers
CUCV bumpers are no different than stock bumpers other than the cut-outs in them. They did however have a brush guard installed - they weren't the strongest though....
