New Guy, Old Burb
Hey everybody, My name is Eric. I have been a member here for a while and just have always lurked and read all the great posts and build threads.
I am 39 years old and live in Greeneville, TN. I am a retired Marine GySgt and am currently working in Afghanistan. I have had several older toys (1952 GMC 5 window, 1950 Chevy 3100, 1948 Dodge car, etc) I currently own a 1952 Chevy truck and just picked up a 1969 Suburban. You might have seen the suburban on Ebay recently. It did not meet the reserve and it was close, so my GF went to check it out for me. I have always loved the 3 doors and have wanted one for a while. The price was decent for a running truck and its got alot of potential, so I had her pick it up. So it’s a 1969 Suburban, 350/350 with late model seats in it. Currently it has drum brakes and rally wheels. The body is going to need some work, PO replaced drivers side rear quarter panel. There is a few spots more of rust from what I can see in the pictures and it will need some front drip rail repair. It did come with a set of spindles, springs and rotors, and calipers, but I will have to see the condition before I think about using them. Current plans for the truck when I come home soon: 2" lower front coils 2.5" lowered spindles 4 wheel disk brake kit 6" drop for the rear 20” Ridler 695’s later model leather Tahoe/ Suburban interior A/C new carpet, door panels and headliner Further on down the line I will replace the 350/350 with a 383/700R4 or a LS3. Semper Fi, Eric

Re: New Guy, Old Burb
So, I have been lazy and not posted anything. I got back from Afghanistan this spring and started collecting parts and pieces. I purchased a 72 short bed for the suspension pieces. 4" HD drop spring for the rear and 1" drop for the front. All new shocks, adjustable track bar. Picked up a complete front end rebuild kit. Scored a set of 20" Boyds with 275mm tires for $500 on craigslist. I reused a Performer RPM intake and carb and billet dizzy/wires from an old build. I threw in a RV/towing cam. The trans already had a shift kit in it, so that was left alone for now. I pulled off most of the crappy tint and will retint later. I scored a newly covered bench seat in green diamon tuck from a neighbor for a $100, that went in and I removed most of the 80's astro van seats out. I also scored a set of RUST free barn doors from CL.
Its all starting to come together, so of which is not according to the orignal plan. But deals come along you cannot pass up. So I know you all are pic whores, so here they are:

Re: New Guy, Old Burb
I have not driven it with the front end done. I drove it after we swapped out the rear. I had to order some new front spindles as the '69 one that i picked up on craigslist before I got the 72 frame of course would not work. I have not C-notched the frame. Hopefully with only a 4" drop, I can live without doing it. I should be driving it today. Swapped a friend some harley parts to swap out the suspension for me. He needed the parts and has more time to work on projects than I do right now.

Re: New Guy, Old Burb
Erick.. It was the one from Marshall. I saw it on eBay when I was in afghanistan. When it didnt meet his reserve, I sent my girl over and bought it. I am right over the mountain from you in Greeneville.
