Poly tank hose size?

I have a poly tank that the filler inlet is 1 1/4 OD. The Blazer filler tubes are 1 3/8 OD. It is a '71. I bought some 1 1/4 hose thinking everything was that size. Any suggestions on how to go from the stock 1 3/8 filler to the 1 1/4 tank? Thanks

Re: Poly tank hose size?

I run the same poly tank with the smaller neck. I simply used the fuel flex hose from Napa (1 3/8" as you describe) and double clamped it to the smaller fuel tank neck.

It's only 1/8" difference which equates to 1/16" for the circumfrance. That's not enough to worry about, even a single worm clamp would do the job. I double worm clamped mine just because I could. Been like that for years, never leaks a drop and I fill it all the way up the neck at the station. No worries.

Re: Poly tank hose size?

Good info Firebird.

I would also think that an exhaust shop out to make a "conversion" piece like a 1-3/8" to 1-1/4" reducer out of metal. So the setup would be: gas inlet - small piece of 1-3/8" tubing - reducer - small piece of 1-1/4" tubing - poly tank inlet.

Re: Poly tank hose size?

I ran a poly tank for a while. When I installed it I cut off the long filler neck from the factory tank. Then cut the rubber filler hose in 1/2, hoseclamped in the metal piece with rubber at both ends to merry it all togeather

I used a piece of exhaust tubing to make a bushing.
