'49 Chevy Hood Installation Help Please?

Hi everyone, and thanks in advance - below is how my truck sits now - Sunday I think I'll be ready to install the hood -



Question 1 - If I am not mistake it is best to install the hood before the fenders for easy alignment?



Question 2 - the hinges, shown below, have to double over - they connect to the firewall, then bend back onto toward the firewall and connect to the hood - due to the springs they are under a lot of tension....



Can someone please share some advice on how best to put the hood on? There is probably a simple process, but I have no idea what it is - I would very much apprecviate any advice!

On AD trucks you need to get the cab, hood and radiator support aligned first, then set the fenders. Even with the hood right if the cab is tilted the fenders may not align with the cab and you have to back up, adjust the cab tilt, hood and fenders again. Tape up the new paint, take your time and expect to do a lot of adjusting.

If you are like most of us you will add a few words to your vocabulary before you are done.

What Orrie said is on the money. It all starts with having the cab setting on the fame exactly right with the bottom of the cab the correct distance from the frame rails and works out from there.
I've already saved the link that He gave for future reference.

The only thing I can add is have some good help when you do it who is willing to hold the part for long enough for it to be properly secured and patient enough to do it several times to get it right.
