Does anyone know if these are reproduced for 1953 models? I usually try to avoid eBay whenever possible. Thanks

ebay and the whole internet is a very useful tool for building any classic.
as with any internet vendor, you have to do your research, look at and read feedback.
i buy and sell on ebay all the time, it's about the only place that you can find used old stuff.

I buy & sell on eBay all the time also.
If you're not at least looking at eBay for the going prices on used parts, you're probably paying too much.

I have been a buyer and seller on Ebay for many years. I started well before most people even knew that Ebay existed. I have completed well over two thousand successful transactions but lately have had some bad experiences not only with sellers but with Ebay itself. Whereas I used to surf Ebay for car parts for a minimum of 2 hours a night, I now use it only when I have to and never just browse like before. It was hard to kick the habit, but not impossible. I just purchased the radio delete plate on Ebay since it is becoming apparent that it is not being repro'd. I agree, it is a useful tool but it can also get way out of hand if not kept in check especially if you have more than one project going at the same time.

Got mine from a truck at a junkard, farily common to see trucks from then without radios.

The little button head bolts that hold them on just have a little antirotation tab and that typically strips out if the the threads are rusty.

I thought I had one but looking at a photo of that cab it is missing. I'll look in the other cab and see if it has one.
After looking on Ebay I can see why you don't want to get one there, those guys are nuts to ask those prices as far as I'm concerned.

You are lucky if you can find trucks like this in a junkyard nearby. I had to go to West Virginia and pay $1500 for a truck that looks like it belongs in a junkyard. My friend (some friend!) came by and said it looked as if it wasnt worth its weight in sheet metal. Im very happy with it but I can see why some people wouldnt like it. My wife stays quiet but I know how she feels. We have had many disagreements when it comes to the acquisition of a new vehicle. Weather permitting, I work on cars all day, every day. But my wife wont let me touch her car- not even to change the oil. Fine with me- Id rather be working on my own cars.

There was one in the trunk of my great grandmas 53 belair i got..no clips but orig paint matching the rest of the car..i guess your talkin' trucks tho
