I've searched on here and everytime I seem to read some good info on motor mouts I read something else that throws me off. I need some suggestions. I'm working on a 72 chevy c10. I plan on putting a 5.3 engine into the truck mated to a th350 tranny. My goal is to mount the engine in the stock location so that it bolts up to my tranny and so I will be able to run the stock mechanical fan. I also want to be able to run headers. I don't mind spending the money on the new mounts like early classic offers. Also, I'd like to be able to run the dynatech 2nd gen fbody headers or 4th gen headers on this truck to keep cost down.

Best bet may be to leave the tranny in the truck, mount the motor to the trans then see where it sits. Then order some mounts or adapter plates. That way you won't have to mess with your drive shaft. Stock fan should be no problem.

1" setback adapter plates should place the bellhousing flange in the same relative position as stock, leaving your trans and driveline untouched. I'll be testing this theory soon on my truck. The EC mounts will place it around 3" too far forward. F-body headers should fit no problem in the stock position, but some have had fitment issues. They will hang below the framerails...

After further researching on motor mounts. I want to hear everyones opinions of this. I'm looking at running the pol tublar mounts with the hooker engine plates to set the sbc in the stock location. How does that sound?

The POL perches will allow you to place the motor in the front or rear two mounting holes. I think this is a much better option, it is what I used on my 65 swap.

Clyde, if I run the Pol tubular perches, what plates would you suggest I run to mount the engine where the sbc originally was?

I would also use the ones mentioned that are adjustable. I am not sure if the Dirty Dingo mount plates would work, but I dont see why not.
