where to but lowering shackles

I got lowering shackles for my 57 years ago. In my opinion they didn't lower enough to be worth the time to install or the price to but them. Don't waste your time and money on them. I think the best bang for your buck would be to flip the rearend to the above the springs insted of under them.

Doesn't the use of lowering shackles change the placement of the rear wheels in the fender's wheel opening?

Just a thought, a mistake I see often when people say they didn't get the full 2" drop advertised out drop shackles, is that they torqued the bolts down with the suspension drooped out. Doing so puts the bushings in a bind, and essentially preloads the suspension, not allowing it to settle all the way down. With the weight on the axle, loosen the bolts and retighten and often it will settle down a bit. Although, of course I agree with the best bang for the buck being to flip the rearend, but that may be more drop than he is after?

Yes, but only slightly, no more than 1/2" probably, the change to the pinion angle is potentially more of an issue.

For me it would be too much drop to flip the axle. And thanks for reminding me about the pinion angle. I'll have to take a look at that...

How about shackles AND taking a couple leafs out? Maybe get 3" total? That's what I was planning to do (before all this naysaying��). That w/ a 2-3" dropped axle and possibly another leaf or two up there. I don't want truly low, just not standing on its "tippy toes" as it is now with 3-5" showing above the tread to the wheel well.

Degree Suspension Shims can be had for 2,4,6 Degree's if you go with shackles all off road and truck supply parts stores carry them.

I've seen the posies 3" lowering springs that claim to lower 3" over stock. Problem is I don't know what stock ride height is and I'm sure my old tired springs are no where near what stock ride height used to be. Would be good to know the original height so you know where you'll be before buying. You might end up higher with the lowering springs!

Right now, my rear is 27 3/4 from the fender lip (12 o'clock) to the ground.
front is 28 1/4...

Anyone have any experience with the Posies Superslides?

If they'd actually lower me 3" those seem like a really easy/good solution. I'm NOT going for a very low look, I just want to eliminate the space between the top of my tire tread and the wheel well. I'd much prefer not to C notch my frame.
