Lowering and 22" wheels question..
I ordered my 4/6 drop spindles and springs and now looking at wheels. I am going intro but thought I was going to run 20s and 22s but not i really like the 22s all the way around. can I run 22 x8.5" up front and 22x10" in the rear and drive it around ok. I never plan on bagging the truck... Please feel free to post pics and let me know what I need to do. also truck is a 72 swb that I plan on driving to shows and hope to take it on some trips out of town. I dont want to ride on rubber bands and rub or hit.

Re: Lowering and 22" wheels question..
Great question Ark. I had the same idea. If you're bagging it, I believe as long as you keep it under 28 or 29 inches in total height (can't remember which one) for the wheel plus tire, you should be ok there. Then the wheel backspace, wheel width, and tire size will dictate whether or not you're rubbing.

Re: Lowering and 22" wheels question..
I want to drive it and not rub. I never plan on bagging it just driving it around and having fun. I think I will run 20s and 22s for hot rod look and nice rake.. still havent decided. I have found pics on here but cant find them again...

Re: Lowering and 22" wheels question..
I think the 22's all around will look really good and fill up the fender wells. It depends on personal preference and what you like best. 20's fill the fender wells with a little more tire and give it that more hot rod look, I guess you could say, where the 22's give it more of a cruiser "wow" factor.
I think both look killer. Original-71, that is a nice looking truck! |

Re: Lowering and 22" wheels question..
Thanks yellaboi, the tires are 265/35/22. If you keep checking on the green truck we're building (Snakebit) we're going to be running 30 series all the way aroung on it. I should have pics up next week.

Re: Lowering and 22" wheels question..
I ended up ordering 20 22 combo because I wanted the hot rod look. It came down to the look and my friend has a truck with 20 22s and I really liked the rake look. I think it comes down to what you want to build.

i agree perfect example is C/10 King rene's ride below. i do like 22's all the way around but they look a lot better on bags IMO.
