coil rearend to leaf truck?
What has to be done to put a rear end set up for a coil suspension in a truck that has a leaf suspension? My friend has a 66 swb that is a leaf truck and I have a rearend for a coil truck, his rearend is a 4:11 and revs too high when driving and is a 10 bolt. Mine is a 12 bolt that has I think is a 3:73. We would just swap the gears but one is a 10 and the other is a 12. Any thoughts on this and how hard it would be to put my rearend in his truck? Thanks....

Re: coil rearend to leaf truck?
Basicly you cut off all the mounting brackets and weld on leaf spring perches and shock mounts.

Re: coil rearend to leaf truck?
If you are putting trailing arms in, first thing is to remove leaf spring perches. Then look to see if you have the x-member thats already set up for the trailing arm pivots. If you do, simply bolt on the pivots. If you dont, you will either need a donor x-member, or you can order one from someplace like Porterbuilt. Once the x-member is in place, the rest is plug and play. The only other issue is securing the spring perches to the frame - I simply cut a piece of flat stock to make a gusset, drilled a hole in the arch of the frame for the attach bolt, then put it together.
