need suggestions for air filter in Ad with lq4

Hey guys, I have been building a 52 with an 05 lq4 for a while now. I have a problem with the air filter. I am using the mechanical fan and have little to no room for an air filter. I currently have the intake tube flipped up in a u shape and have the filter on top of the motor. I did this to get it runnning and it works fine. The problem is it looks like an elephant trunk on top of the motor. It looks stupid. The engine bay is really narrow with this big motor. I would like to keep the fan and I have the AC mounted up high on the passenger side. Any suggestions?

And I built a fiberglass box for mine with a panel filter.

Thanks for the great pics. I have the same Ac setup as you so you know nothing fits on the pasenger side. Bummer because I like the first pic. I think the fan would hit the filter in the second pic. Street and performance makes a nice peice like the second one but it costs about $400. Way too much. I have the same thing as you but with a cone filter at the end instead of the box. How loud is your setup? Mine makes quiet a bit of noise.

And while we're at it this is just another way to put an air filter on a LS.

BTW the Rad and fans are from a 2000 Camero . This is on TF and works great with only a
slight mod to the lower bracket on the Rad support.

Yes I know it won't help with an AD, just for the lookee loos .

Also BTW if you mod a mid 2000's pick up inlet tube it will clear the fan and you can them mount a remote filter on you AD.

Thanks for the pics guys. I have thought about incorporating the air cleaner into an engine cover like on the roadster. I am not sure if I like it but the tube is pretty sweet though.
