Smile Just Bought My 69 Chevy Project Truck

Folks, I just purchased a 1969 C-10 fleet side short bed truck last weekend, without and engine and tranny. It is an original AC/PS truck, but all the AC has been gutted out. I bought a second truck, an 81 GMC short bed, in order to have an engine and tranny to swap into it. The 81 has a brand new rebuilt, zero miles engine loaded with summit racing parts, and a serpentine belt system. Also a turbo 350 or 400 tranny I can't remember now. Here is a picture of the 69, which is in good shape body wise, and the 81 from which my engine and tranny will be donated.

There are a ton of loose wires under the hood ot the 69, and I have a wiring diagram so my first step is to label all the wires. Then when I get ready to install the engine, it will be a lot simpler. I have been told that the newer alternator (100 amp or more) may require a heavier wire than the original 50 amp alternator that came with the truck. Lean Mean 71 Green Machine clued me in to that issue: I take no credit for thinking of it myself.

So I am taking lots of pictures of the project, for example stripped out the bench seat and long since worn out rubber floor mat, and see the cancer spots on the floorboard under the drivers feet I will need to replace. Something similar on the passenger side too. Anyway, I hope to do a good job of documenting what i do as I go along, for whatever reason. Until then, Brian AKA BSB1955, Raeford NC.

Smitty: What an eye for detail. It is a reverse rotation on the fan. I think it was just put in backwards? Great to meet you too. I will take your advice and attend the meeting you suggested. Best Regards, Brrian
