power steering squeels
So I replaced my power steering gear box and power steering pump 3 months ago and everything was working 100% OK. Well I got stuck in a ditch during a tornado and had to have someone push me out, and somehow the belt came off my power steering pump as he was pushing my truck and I was turning to get unstuck. After our area was cleared of the weather threat we went outside to examine the power steering. He reconnected to belt and everything went good, I go on my way home. But now... When I put my truck in drive and turn it squeaks a bit, never did that before... While I'm driving and make a turn it doesn't squeak. What could be the problem?? Could the belt not be tight enough?? When I replaced the power steering components I made sure the belt was on tight. When he put the belt back on he didn't tighten it up the way I did. Could something be damaged? I checked the fluid and it good. I'm thinking I need to tighten the belt up the way I had, just thought I get your guys's opinion.

Re: power steering squeels
Once the belt "tosses" it is done. You can reuse it but it will either toss again or squeals, etc... Id buy a new one. I tossed a few when my alt was out a tad and if you lay it on the bench you can see its not flat anymore, got a twist in it...
