If you got Questions on these trans go buy book on chevrolet Tpi and Tbi engine swapping by Mike Knell 11th edition.Bought mine through speedway motors in Lincoln Ne.and its worth every penny. In 1992chevy began using electronic trans in the 3/4 and 1 ton designated the 4L80E$ stands for 4 forward gears L for longitudinal for rear wheel drive,80 is a strength rating and e stands for electronic.93 full size trucks got the electronically controlled 700R4s which is called the 4L6oE.In 94 passenger cars (corvette, camaro, caprice got the electronic trans.Hope this helps if not bye the book its super.

Not to be a jerk but the 4L80E debuted in 91, not 92. Other than that the rest is true.

Hey Darren if theres any salvage centers in your area join and bid on complete unit.In are area we just had a salvage center open to the public for a yearly fee and we can bid just like the dealers.Just bought a 90 van 350 700R4 for 269.00and the 91 van 350 with either 700 R4 or 4L80E for 449.00 and 104000 miles and runs perfect.Check out IAA auto salvage in your area as I know there all over the country.Good luck

23and56, I just found a IAAI yard near where I work In Portland OR last week. I looked at their web page. www.IAAI.com last week. Do you have to bid on the whole vehicle? Or can you bid on just parts? Also, would that price of the tranny (you are getting) include the electronics needed to run the tranny? Thanks! Darren

Darren you bid on the whole vehicle thats the nice part as you get everything you need. You have to be careful on the total wrecks. We can start the vehicles here before we buy.It can be a gamble but Ive done well.
