Re: Window rubber
Hi justagoodoleboy,
Do you know if a sealer was used when your glass was installed? Mine came from GMC pauls too. It was precision. Funny All the belt moldings are made in USA from precision. But not the windshield gasket |

Re: Window rubber
My wife is Taiwanese bro .. relax. We all know they can't make trucks like we can. I agree the repop stuff is not up to par, .. but if it were made in Dallas would that make it better? I don't think so. That's all I'm sayin. ..

Re: Window rubber
Hey Mike, When I am building a truck I use Soff Seal Front and rear window and door gaskets it cost a little more and I really don't know were they claim it is made but I have always had Great success. I do know this for a fact all Steel rubber is not made in the USA Also Chesters rubber products are made in the USA and work pretty good also. Hope this helps.

Re: Window rubber
GM recommends in the factory service manuals when installing new windshield seals that you should use a sealant under the weatherstrip on the outside to prevent leaks. If the installer did not use sealant thats a good reason for it to leak. Also if you purchased a new windshield they are not all made to the same thickness and many have the curvative of the glass incorrect leading to leaks. Precision windshield seals Have always been made in Taiwan and if you speak with ANY reputable glass shop they will recommend Precision everytime we've ever asked.
Soff Seal is made in China, Steele is made in Taiwan ( We've heard they actually get theirs from Precision for re-sell), to our knowledge NO ONE makes a 67-72 truck windshield seal in the USA. GMCPaul |

Re: Window rubber
Mike, have you ever considered it might be the QC from the American based companies that farm jobs to China and Taiwan and not the ignorance of the people who are making the product? There are Americans that have to approve this 'junk' as ok to sell to you and I. Keep buying it, they'll keep making it. Its that simple. The people making the chome or rubber.. whatever are only as good as the materials they are provided regardless of where it's made, molded, or assembled.
People from other countries work a lot cheaper and are not as spoiled as we are.. as you say "those people" are working to survive.. not put 30k in an old pickup. I know where all my window rubber will come from. Well said Paul. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Window rubber
There is a thread that has been running the last seven months.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...special&page=3 In post #57 Special K gives some sealer information. The thread as a whole gives a lot of information about what isn't working and success as well.

Water comes in outside goes between rubber and glass reappearing inside same location. So sealer would have to go in actual glass channel. Seal fits nice except upper driver corner is a little loose. I made sure to find a domestic windshield. YES I found one! I don't mind paying more for good product |
