Brake Light Switch

1968 K10 with upgraded 7 hole dash.
Did search and did not find anything on this problem.
When I hit the brakes the brake lights flash then go off? All other light functions work. Can the switch be adjusted?

Re: Brake Light Switch

I believe the switch has an adjustment but its usually to keep the lights off. When you step on the pedal it releases the switch and closes the conection. Look up under your dash and follow the pedal up and you will find the switch. take a jumper wire and jump the two wires if the brake lights stay on then maybe the switch is bad. Were they ok before the new dash?

Re: Brake Light Switch

I unplugged the switch and inside the pin and long spring came out, I noticed brase with contacts, two sets, one set s missing so I'm sure thats where the problem is. I'll have to see where to get a switch.

Re: Brake Light Switch

I just bought one a few months ago at the local auto parts. And yes, they're adjustable.
