Drive shaft loop...
How far from the u-joint are they required to be? Also if someone could post some pics of their setup and mounting position for a 73-87...

Rule book says within 6" of the u-joint IIRC. You can bolt it to the cab floor, weld it to the cross member, make a new cross member,, it's not specific on 'how' or how much clearance. Just that it better be built to 100% contain the D/S if the u-jount should fail. And trust me,, if you've ever had it happen, you want it built for FUNCTION.
I saw a D/S come up through the floor of a 62 ET car and almost take the right arm off the driver. And it was a STOCK floor (obviously with the X-frame removed and sitting on a 2x3 double frame rail chassis) They just bolted a "U" to the floor thinking the steel floor would suffice as the top of the loop. The force of a driveshaft twisting into a pretzel and the gears backing up the twist... man it's some scary stuff when one gets loose.

I bought a Lakewood universal unit so hopefully it'll hold up... If the driveshaft doesnt!! Thank you for your advice!
